Reverencing God by Pastor Clarence Walker

Moreover, God takes notice of and grants benefits to those who love and reverence him as we see from the following scripture:
Psalm 33:18–22 “Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee” KJV
“Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. Our inner selves wait [earnestly] for the Lord; He is our Help and our Shield. For in Him does our heart rejoice, because we have trusted (relied on and been confident) in His holy name. Let your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping for you” AMP
The words from the original language give us an even deeper understanding. Here are some definitions of some of those words:
Fear: [yare’ /yaw•ray/] reverence, worship, stand in awe
Heb. yir’â, ‘reverence’ Heb. paḥaḏ, dread’
Hope: [yachal /yaw•chal/] to wait, expect, looking to, await eagerly for a future event
Wait: [chakah /khaw•kaw/] to wait for, long for, continue to be in a certain state until an expected event
God desires to be loved and reverenced by his children for he is a loving and compassionate Father who more than deserves this kind of response from us. Therefore, let us seek to reverence God in all that we say and do it is a command that comes with its own reward
