Pastor Clarence Walker
When the Lord gave us the Word of growing fresh and green in 2019, He was telling us that we are in a new season at FACCI, He is troubling the water and now is the opportune time for us to focus on growing, individually and corporately. There will be a special anointing available for us to grow, it doesn’t mean that this will be the only time to grow but there will be an anointing, or His power to help us.
Remember the man at the pool of Bethesda
John 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
The word in Greek for season is kairos – an occasion, set or proper time: – opportunity, (convenient, due) season, ( short, while) . The implication is that there is a short window of time.
I don’t know about you but I plan to take advantage of the troubling of the water in FACC and jump in so I can grow up in every aspect of my life. I am claiming it for my life and for FACCI – I want to change, get better, grow, there are some yokes in my life that will be broken in this year, there are new levels of intimacy that I will experience with the Lord, there is a new anointing that I will flow in.
Whenever you hear something God says concerning what He will be doing, you should say” Lord I receive” , claim it for yourself, think about how you want to grow, receive it by faith, speak it, take hold of it for yourself.
You should say– this is my new season and my time to grow – you have to participate and do your part-, Shake off the spirit of heaviness and depression that has been on you, declare that the Lord is going to do something new in your life.
This is why the Lord tells us to focus our attention on the spirit realm and what is happening there because what is happening in the natural realm is temporary.
For Him to say it is a new season something has happened in the spirit realm.
2Co 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Temporal = pros’-kahee-ros – from the same root word kairos – for the occasion only, that is, temporary: – dur- [eth] for awhile, endure for a time, for a season,
Having this perspective helps you to go through hard times –
II Cor 4: 16 Lvg That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner strength in the Lord is growing every day. 17 These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and won’t last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God’s richest blessing upon us forever and ever! 18 So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
Listen- I am not saying ignore the world we live in, but if you will remember that even if everyone may be against you in the natural world that God loves you, you are accepted in the beloved, you are not alone. If God be for you, who can be against you!
It is like when the prophet Elisha was surrounded by the enemy’s army asked the Lord to open the young man’s eyes – to see heaven’s army surrounding them.
Our priority and main focus is what is going on the spiritual world because God, knows what you are going through, He still loves you, this too will pass, He has always brought you through, He will bring you through this too. No weapon formed against me will prosper. So see what is going on in the world but look at it through heaven’s perspective and you will not react the same way.
You have to participate and do your part-, the Lord is not just going to pour some growth juice over you so you grow. God wants to know how much do you want it, Do you love and want Him or do you just want the goodies.
Now when it comes to fixing you, changing you, He does the work, if you could fix yourself you would, you can’t but there are some things you will need to do to cooperate with His process.
There is a lifestyle, there are some behaviors that you need to do that will help you to grow spiritually. – Desire the milk of the Word- is one of the main ways we can grow, The Greek word for desire = (to yearn); , intensely crave desire (greatly) long (after),
Bringing forth fruit is a sign of growth and it is what the Lord is looking for from us. So anything that helps you bring forth the fruit of the Spirit is good for your growth.
Joh 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain:
He is not looking for a bunch of beautiful leaves, He wants fruit. The fruit of the Spirit is going to make you act like Jesus. Everything is about conforming us to the image of Christ.
We are God’s fruit trees if you have a fruit tree that never brings forth fruit, what good is it?
The Word of God is the seed that brings forth fruit. – so we go back to the importance of the Word for you to grow.
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. :3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Matt_13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
John_15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
So bringing forth fruit will be a sign of growth, in order to grow you need the Word of God, in order to bring forth fruit you must abide and stay connected to Jesus.
The first in the list of the fruit of the spirit is love.
The Biblical description of love is in I Cor 13: 4 Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; 5 love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; 6 love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. 7 Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail
