Seizing the Opportunity to be a Loving Community

The theme for 2020:

The theme was ironically inspired by the outpouring of God’s love we received from my congregation, other churches and fellow pastors around the country during me and my wife’s illness. I was humbled by the love shown us. Black and white, male and female, young and elderly it was indeed overwhelming. The result was that I developed a new appreciation for the love of God and how important it is that we Christians manifest the love of Christ.

The love of many has grown cold in this atmosphere of division, partisanship, and racial disparity. We are a divided nation. Unfortunately, many so-called evangelical Christians have contributed to this division and yet Jesus said the following in John 13:34-35:

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.
He did not say they would know us by our dress, our Christian buttons. pictures and bumper stickers; but instead when they see us engaging in love activities. We are disciplined followers of Christ therefore; love is our badge of honor and our real identity. I challenge you in 2020 to assume and live out Christ’s love lifestyle and love agenda,
Amen
